Real Meaning to the Holidays

Economy and the Holidays

The present complicated economic times has many parents stressed over holiday gifts and how it will affect their little ones this year. There are many families that are going to be required this season to choose between food, car payments, medicine, gasoline, rent and heating their houses. Although everyone is affected, the aged elderly, the parents that have been recently laid-off due to company going belly up, and the shoddier families are being hit predominantly hard. The financial predictions for the next couple of months are rather depressing and conditions are not expected to improve noticeably by the holidays.

I certainly do not mean to reduce the pain and difficulties that this holiday season may bring; I am suggesting that it can present opportunities to bring back some of the customary family and Holiday values. I am a supporter that the best gift a parent can ever give their children is love and caring as well as being there for everyone. Our clearest childhood memories are usually those that centered on family involvement. Even when we were the poorest financially. Think about your most memorable times when you were a young child. What were they? Odds are they were something you did with your family. The money or the gifts that may have been involved are not what you typically remember the most. It’s important to show gratitude to the ones you love even if it doesn’t involve spending millions of dollars.

I really agree with you Cory. I do belive that some of my happiest memories involve spending time with my families around the holidays. And it always important for us not forget that money and expensive gifts aren't everyhting and the most important thing about the holidays is being with the ones you love.
